We also demonstrate that firms with high cash flow experience lower announcement-period returns associated with stock market liberalization than do firms with low cash flow. Our findings suggest that the free cash flow hypothesis dominates the corporate governance hypothesis in terms of the net effect of stock market liberalization on a firm 's stock returns. We further document similar evidence with regard to banking liberalization. Finally, we demonstrate that stock market liberalization leads to the more efficient allocation of capital.

Waves of visible light hit the retina in your eye. A chemical chain reaction sends a signal down the nerve to the brain. This signal has an effect on the brain that is more than just triggering an interpretation of the scene the eye sees. Hormones and moods are affected depending on visible color.

You may be thinking that individuals and cultures may differ in their reactions. I know a Chinese woman who lived through the Pol Pot genocide in Kampuchea in the late 1970s. She hates wearing black. Why? Because that was the preferred clothing color of her persecutors. In her case, the trauma triggered an intense emotional reaction and color associations in the brain. No black, thank you.

The odd thing is that studies show certain colors are associated with particular mood reactions in a wide spectrum of people.

If you are into online web design and copywriting, that's good news. We all buy things from emotional motivations. From color therapy or chromotherapy, for example, we learn that:

1) Blue tends to stimulate relaxation, peace, a lower heart beat, and trust. It is also said to inspire creativity. Violet and green are similar.

But I can't help wondering if color schemes are tested uniquely in mono-cultural or "mono-demographic" markets whether some differences will not show up. Color symbolism in context, for example, may alter results. As always, split testing in time shows any statistically measurable difference.

But why not begin with what has proven to work best and see if you can improve on it?

If I may end with a word of caution: Play fair. Color schemes are better seen as helping to remove unnecessary hindrances to doing business than they are as tools to manipulate suckers. In the long haul, your business will do better using color with the former goal in mind than the latter. In the long haul, honesty is the best policy.

Using this technique, you can drag the toolbar either down from its current position under the Menu bar or you can drag it to the left or right.

When you resize the toolbar to the left or right, you will notice that some of the icons from either toolbar will appear and disappear. This is by design. Essentially the application adjusts the size of the toolbar and changes the icons based on those that fit on the resized toolbar.

Another fantastic tool included with the toolbar is the ability to identify what the toolbar button does just by holding your mouse over the icon. When you do this, a Tool Tip appears just like the one shown here - .

Microsoft provides an option in the Customize dialogue box, which is found under the Tools menu to show both the Standard toolbar and the Formatting toolbar by default. However to have the toolbars on one row you must deselect the Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows command.

If you want the two Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows you select the check box of the command Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows command.

There are a variety of toolbars in the Microsoft Excel application and to display (or hide) those toolbars you must first go to the View menu and then choose Toolbars. When you view the menu there is some important information you must be aware of.

If there is a tick next to one of the toolbar names then this indicates that the toolbar is already visible. Alternatively, no tick indicates that the toolbar is hidden.

To turn a toolbar on, click once with your left mouse button on the toolbar name. If you want to turn the toolbar off, click on the toolbar name once again.

You will find that most toolbars will be located toward the top of the screen however you can reposition the toolbar anywhere on the screen.

Toolbars are known to be in two modes – Docked Mode and Floating Mode. When a toolbar is in Floating Mode you can reposition it on the screen by moving your mouse pointer into the Title bar, holding your left mouse button down and dragging it to where you would like it to go.

And one thing I can tell you for certain is Microsoft just took off its kid gloves with the release of Bing and is looking for a shot at the reigning champ Google.

This article will show you how to hedge your bet with both contenders and come out a winner while these two Goliaths slug it out.

Round One:

First and foremost make sure you follow the one major rule that will apply to both engines; Content is King!

Although we don't yet have a clear picture of how Bing will react to all situations we do know that, since it is being touted as the first decision engine, it will focus greatly on quality of content. That said, be ready to make your pages a little longer than you did when optimizing for MSN and be certain the copy reads well.

Round Two:

Great content is not enough. It has to be well written and natural sounding. Anything that sounds like it was written for a search bot will not make it into the top one hundred let alone the top ten.

Round Three:

Still dealing with on page content, you need to carefully consider how many times your keyword is mentioned and where it is found on the page text. Both search engines will not only look for your keywords but also the context in which they are found. It is no longer enough to simply have them sprinkled in the text randomly. Now the keywords need to actually flow in the context of the text as well. This is typically taken care of for you when writing naturally but is definitely worth the extra once over before posting the final page live.

Here is a little formula to help...

1. Use one main keyword and up to two supporting keywords per page.

2. Do not repeat the main keyword more than three times on a page.

3. Do not repeat the supporting keywords more than twice each per page.

4. Try to have at least five hundred words per page.

5. Try to place your main keyword at the beginning, middle and end of the page text while keeping the writing natural and flowing.

Round Four:

Get as many high quality inbound links as possible. You already know this but it bears repeating. Search engines today are about popularity of the individual page returns. Having inbound links from Google authority sites will be more important than ever because any other search engine trying to trump Google will also be checking these stats as well as adding a few of their own.

That said, getting links from just the Google authority sites is not enough. You also want to get links from MSN's top picks (which are now Bing's top picks.)

Round Five:

As affiliate marketers, we're fortunate in that we don't have as many 'Achilles heels' as the merchants who own and deliver the products we promote for them. Both our investments and our risks tend to be lower.

However, we do have one significant 'weak' spot, and that's in how far we can go in improving 'the offer'. There are certain things we simply can't do. For example, we don't have the authority to offer discounts or deliver upgrades.

But, this 'weakness' doesn't mean we're stuck with 'weak offers'! In fact, I can think of at least 5 ways to improve any offer, and really send our sales soaring:

1. Increase The PERCEPTION of Value -

The real value of any product is always in the customer's mind, and you can increase that perception in dozens of ways. For example, you guide the customer through a comparison of similar products, while pointing out why the one you're promoting is really the best deal for the money.

2. Demonstrate the Immediate Benefits -

Show the customer how they can put the product to use from the moment they buy it. You should already own your own copy of most of the products you promote. So, create a tutorial or some way of showcasing the results you've gotten from the product.

3. Give More of Yourself On a Personal Level --

Similar to Step 2 – There's always added value in social proof. Discuss your own experience surrounding the questions, problems and ultimate solutions in regards to the product at hand. Empathize with the customer's position and point out the things you share in common.

4. Put Them At Ease --

Your relationship to the merchant should enable you to give the customer a sense of security in making the purchase. Let them know about the product's guarantee and/or refund policy. Let them know the transaction is secure. You want to remove as much of the risk as possible from the purchase.

5. Provide Additional Incentives --

Check with the merchant first to make sure you're allowed to do this. Its usually no problem when you're promoting things like e-books, membership sites, etc.. You can really sweeten up an offer when you add your own products to the mix. E.g., “order this e-book, and I'll throw in a free copy of this other product over here..”

So, you see, all it takes is a little creativity to add value to any affiliate offer. Use the 5 steps and you may even blow the merchant's offer clear out of the water!

If your not Tweeting or updating your Facebook status to communicate with people these days, then you pretty much don't exist (at least it feels that way). Thanks to Myspace and Facebook, our generation has witnessed one of the fastest growing digital trends in communication via social networking sites. I mean, we can't make it through the day without hearing about a celebrity "Tweet," chatting about a new Facebook post, or hearing about some other virtual announcement. With that, I think its safe to say that we are living in a new age of communication - one which seems vital for keeping up with the rest of the world (whether its for business or for pleasure).

I don't even think I knew what Facebook was until something like my second or third year in college (way back in 2004). Seeing how quickly social networking websites have evolved, from your basic college student's way of posting some pictures from their latest kegger or keeping in touch with old high school buddies, to this vast network of possibilities for information exchange, certainly necessitates some attention.

I'm sure that many of us have recently experienced that, "Oh my god, my mom's on Facebook moment!" I know I have. Aside from this being quite a hilarious or perhaps a nerve-wracking experience (depending on whether or not your the one upside down doing things like keg stands in your Facebook portfolio), the fact that older generations have joined their kids on the world wide web, is a prime example of how social networking has become universal.

There has been a huge buzz surrounding the advantages of using social networking websites to promote your home business. Websites like Twitter and Facebook have been hailed as the latest, greatest way to gain more traffic to your website, and promote business programs that you are involved with.But, did you know that there are ways that social networking can harm your efforts at running a successful business? That's what this article is all about. Hopefully, many readers will already realize the importance of this, and will have taken action to avoid having social networking harm their business efforts. For those readers that think I must be off my rocker, this is a must read!

The first and most common way that social networking websites, especially Twitter, can harm you business is by simply overusing the system. Because of it's ease of use, many home business owners have become so caught up in using Twitter and other social networking sites for their promotion that they have abandoned other proven methods of business marketing. Rather then spend their business day writing articles, working on SEO for their website, etc., they will spend a few minutes on Twitter, promoting their business, update their Facebook Status or Notes for something to do with their business, and call it a day. This is the old saying about putting all your eggs in one basket, and it simply won't work.

Another way social networking promotion can hurt your business is with the age old "art" of Spamming. We are all familiar with the Junk folder in our email accounts, and how quickly it will fill up with unsolicited ads promoting everything under the sun. With the dawn of social networking, those who make spam a part of their business have found a new outlet. I can't count how many times I see one person put up 4-10 posts in a row, and all of them are advertising something! I have received messages on Facebook, from people I barely know, selling me the latest "Get Rich Now" marketing gimmick. This does not make anyone want to buy into something, and may even make them angry enough to report you. If you spam consistently on Twitter, you can kiss your account goodbye, so why waste your time?

The final harmful social networking factor that I will mention here applies more to Twitter than any other site. This is the use of programs that will automatically post tweets for you, all day everyday. The programs themselves are not a bad idea. The problem lies in the fact that many business owners use them as a "set and forget" type of marketing. If I see someone on Twitter making the same posts at the same time, week after week, it becomes obvious that this person has no interest in the social aspect of the site. I personally am more inclined to be interested in someone if that person shows an interest in me. After a few days of seeing the same tweets over and over, I stop viewing that person's tweets altogether, and if they're really overdoing it, I will unfollow them. So good job, instead of making a sale, you lost one more.

If you partake in any of the methods I have mentioned here, I have a bit of advice for you:

-Do not treat social networking sites as the ultimate advertising tool. While Twitter and others are useful, and do work well for business promotion, you need to use other methods too. The tried and tested marketing methods still work, and should be applied to your campaigns as well.

-Do not spam your friends/followers. You are guaranteed to lose more sales than you make if you employ this method. It has been said that only 10% of your social networking time should be spent actually promoting. That means that 90% of the time, you should be adding something of value to your network. This way, when you do mention your business, people will be more inclined to pay attention.

-If you use autoposting software for Twitter and other sites, keep it fresh. I personally try to use these programs only when I am away for a longer period of time. If you use these programs often, change your posts on a regular basis, to avoid having your message become old, stale, and ignored.

If you use common sense, manage your time well, and stick to these guidelines, you can have a lot of success promoting your business through social networking. If you can't do this, then you might be better off forgoing this marketing method altogether. At least don't add me!
